SquareWrights is the Playwright Center of Stratford.
The Center produces new works by local playwrights semi-annually in a production called Quickies in the Stacks, which plays at the Stratford Library.
Quickies in the Park is an annual performance on the grounds of the Shakespeare Theatre of new works by its members. This year's theme is: "A Second Chance at History."
SquareWrights has raised more than $10,000 for organizations from the Stratford Library and the Stratford Arts Guild to aid for victims of the Tsunami in South East Asia and Hurricane Katrina. Additionally, SquareWrights has partnered with numerous local theatre companies to bring new works to stages in the area. Those theatre companies include: Eastbound Theatre (Milford), Square One Theatre Company (Stratford), The Temple Players (Stratford), Theatre on the Green (Bridgeport), and others.
SquareWrights was co-founded by J. Sibley Law and Orna Rawls (with help from Tom Holehan and Square One Theatre Company). Quickies in the Park 2010 is produced by Tom Rushen, Mark Lambeck, and Orna Rawls.
